Charities & Not For Profit Organisations

The Watts Gregory "Charity Unit" was set up many years ago to meet the specialist needs of clients working in this highly regulated area.

The unit is run by David Williams and Julia Mortimer both of whom have considerable expertise in this sector built up over many years of practice in assisting a diverse range of charitable organisations. We are committed to providing a service characterised by -

  • Quality
  • Sector expertise
  • Continuity
  • Commitment

Quality

We are members of the highly respected UK200 Group which is a real badge of quality. Training is a key emphasis of the group and this ensures that staff and partners are kept up to date in what is an ever changing environment.

Sector expertise

Our growing Charity Unit looks after in excess of 35 clients in the sector. We are members of the UK200 Charity Group and as a result have access to Charity professionals across the country.

Continuity

We believe that continuity of staff is important in delivering the best quality of service. It is our policy for partners and managers to act for clients on a long term basis and for these to be supported by well trained staff from our audit department.

Commitment

This is demonstrated in practical ways such as -

  • Free telephone advice
  • Liaison with Charity Commission
  • Regular newsletters
  • Sector specific seminars - often in partnership with WCVA.
  • "Hand holding" and assistance in accounting and related areas.
  • Management information systems development
  • Tax and VAT advice

What our clients say about us -

"Watts Gregory staff - know our business, are interested in what we are doing and respond promptly to our needs. This, coupled with friendly professionalism, gives our Trustees confidence and our managers practical no nonsense support."
J Hawkins - Age Concern Cardiff & The Vale of Glamorgan

"Watts Gregory have provided an excellent service to Learning Disability Wales for several years.  They conduct a very speedy and efficient annual audit and their staff are very capable and approachable.  They have a dedicated charity unit that understands legislation as it affects us and working with them we have ensured that we are totally compliant with SORP.  They also have a SAGE unit which means that they have an in-depth knowledge of a software package that is increasingly important to our financial administration and management.  Watts Gregory understand our needs and clearly put great store by the quality of their client relationship.

We are very pleased to recommend the services of Watts Gregory."
Learning Disability Wales

"Watts Gregory became our auditors last year. They have helped us to completely revise all our financial systems and become a much more effectively managed charity. Without their support we would have real difficulty coping with the speed of growth we are experiencing - it's incredibly comforting to know that there is someone on the end of a phone to answer questions if you feel you are running into problems. And it's great to bump into your auditor in the audience for one of your productions."
Alison Woods - NoFit State Community Circus

"This is Abergavenny Mind Association's first year with Watts Gregory and we have found them to be extremely helpful and accommodating during our period of transition.  At all times they have been professional, courteous and with a willingness to assist.  They have provided us with an excellent level of support and training.  We very much commend them."
E Meredith - Abergavenny Mind Association
